Best Violin Apps To Help You Practice The Violin

Best Violin Apps To Help You Practice The Violin To Download Or Not To Download A Violin App? ChaptersThe Benefits Of A Violin Learning AppHow Does A Violin Tuning App Actually Work?Is There One Best Violin Tuner App?Choosing A Violin AppViolin apps, just like apps for any other genre of music and style of instrument, have been on the rise over the years as technology advances at a super fast rate. Music to our ears? Patience, please! Let's see if they are all that they are cracked up to be!Not only are there apps out there helping you to maintain your string instrument, like tuner apps, apps have also been developed to teach you how to play the instrument (some are even aimed at learning the violin as absolute beginners!) with tutorials on how to hold the musical instrument, wrist placement, what to do with your left hand, how to maintain good posture while you play stringed instruments and, of course, how to read music. If you can't quite believe it, you can download one of the digital tuition apps yourself for either a small or no fee at all via the Apple App Store, Windows App Store or your Android App Store. Even if you just download a few for fun, you might be surprised by what they can do for you and what you learn. That said, you don't want to risk developing bad habits from trying to copy others, so how do you balance the pros and the cons? When looking for your new app and pocket friend to replace or complement your violin tutor, remember that there are a few things you should consider first before committing. You can see our top tips for choosing a violin music app below. Finally, Soundcorset has developed this tuner and metronome app for musicians, which has a range of great features. For example, you can record, set sound, flash, vibration and visual beats and it has a very useful black screen battery-saving mode for when you're playing violin away from home and don't want to drain your battery life!Choosing A Violin AppBefore you go downloading the first apps you see for violin players, be sure to read the descriptions of each and make sure t hat it offers you what you need. For example, if you are a complete beginner to violin playing, then you don't want to download an app that is adapted for intermediate or advanced players, and vice-versa.It may sound obvious but do also check that the app is for the instrument you have or want to learn about. There's no point in taking violin lessons in how to play the cello if you own a violin!Looking at screenshots is a great way of getting a feel for the app in question, and seeing how easy it looks to navigate around the app. The last thing you want when trying to learn a new skill is to have to, first of all, get to grips with the teaching materials! The app should be clear and concise and make working through the violin lessons seamless. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, you should always read the reviews left by other users. Most app stores will offer a star grading, which is your first insight into the popularity of the app. Yet, don't forget to balance a number of facto rs - an app with a four-star review with satisfied customers in the thousands could be a better app than one with three or four five star reviews. If in doubt, always go with the masses!

Networking 101

Networking 101 Everyone knows someone who knows someone. Finding out who those people are and what they do can help you get a job or internship while in college. Be your major: You dont need to paint your major on your forehead or anything too dramatic, but it might not be a bad idea to wear it on your sleeve. Wherever you go - the bank, grocery store, haircut, bowling alley, etc. - try to engage in conversation with the people you bump into. Talk to these people about your career plans because they might know someone in your field. Also, students should talk to their family members and friends parents about their majors. These people probably know someone of interest to you. They could even help you get into contact with that person. Ask everyone you see what they do: The best way to initiate a professional conversation is by simply asking people where they work and what they do there. People love to talk about their jobs, and most of them will give you an extended answer. After people tell you what they do, they will most likely ask you about your career plans and major. This is a great way to make a few contacts in your field. Make business cards: Whomever you talk to about your career interests will not remember your email address, even if it as simple as emailaddress@emailaddress.com. Making business cards is the best way to get someone to remember you because they will have something tangible from you. Therefore, you wont have to rely on them writing down your name and email address. Students should put their email address, phone number, major and web site link (if they have one) on their business cards. Students can get creative with their cards to make them stand out; however, it does not have to be fancy. Put your resume/portfolio online: Students can upload their resume, portfolio and other relevant work using Google sites, Intuit, Wix or other free Web site templates. These are simple programs that allow multiple pages. This works very well with a business card. Essentially, a student could find a relative who plays golf with someone who owns his/her own business in your field. This relative would probably pass your business card along, and the business owner can quickly see your online resume/portfolio. Then, the opportunities are boundless. Join clubs at your school: Nearly every major has its own club. Most of these clubs bring in guest speakers from that career field. These guest speakers are usually open to interacting with and even hiring students for internships or jobs. Also, the other students in that club especially the juniors and seniors might even pass along your information to companies they previously interned at. Clubs are a great way to meet and learn about companies and people in your field. Be friends with your professors: If anyone can introduce you to people in your field or point you in the right directions its your professors. Some are fresh out of the work force and still have great contacts at major companies. The closer you get to your professors, the more they will learn your talents. Also, they will be more willing to help you out. Networking can be tedious at certain times, but students should always have an open mind to it. Every time students walk out of their houses (or dorm rooms) they should try to network and make as many contacts as possible. These contacts can be pivotal resources for finding great jobs and internships.

How to Maximize Your GMAT Prep This Summer

How to Maximize Your GMAT Prep This Summer Are you sitting for the GMAT this fall? Fantastic! Summer is an excellent time to prepare, as it enables you to concern yourself with one fewer item come application time. Does the GMAT overwhelm you? There is no need to worry. With an action plan, you can begin your journey to business school on the right foot. Here are three tips to help you maximize your summer GMAT prep: 1. Complete a diagnostic test as soon as possible A GMAT practice testprovides you with a baseline score, which is necessary to determine how far you are from your target result. This initial diagnosis will also assist you in identifying your strengths and weaknesses. Different individuals will have different areas to focus on. For example, nonnative speakers of American English may need to study verbal questions more than they do quantitative ones. Test-takers who have difficulty with Integrated Reasoning problems may wish to enhance their problem-solving abilities. Diagnostic exams also build stamina. Your testing experience will require a minimum of four hours: you must arrive at the exam center at least 30 minutes before your test, which is three hours and 30 minutes in length, not including optional breaks (which you should take). Why not build your energy well in advance? 2. Create a long-term study plan As you develop a GMAT study plan, work backward. Start with the enrollment date for your prospective business school. If you wish to enter an MBA program that begins in August of the following year, when should you ideally apply? Then, determine when you can and should sit for the exam. What is the latest GMAT test you can complete without missing your application deadline? This will be your last resort in case you must retake the exam to achieve a higher score. Here are some great tips on how to reach your target GMAT score. In addition, decide upon the earliest date that you can feasibly sit for the GMAT. Based on your practice test, how much time do you need to properly prepare? 3. Determine your ideal review method If you can teach yourself concepts and remain on task without guidance, studying independently is a valid option. Remember, however, that this is only an effectiveway to prepare for the exam if you have the self-disciplineto stay committed to your GMAT plan. Remember to prioritize your study sessions and to stay honest about your abilities. If you require individual attention from a GMAT expert who can provide you with lessons tailored to your specific abilities, consider working with a tutor. Not all tutors are right for all students, so choose someone who can help you develop your personal strengths and address your particular weaknesses. GMAT tutorshave often walked the same road to business school as you, and they can provide perspective on both the exam and the process of earning an MBA. A third option is to study with other prospective business school students. You can teach one another about the areas you understand best. Share your skills! You will also benefit from a support system of fellow business school applicants who know what you are going through. Whichever method you use, ensure there is an emphasis on material from GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council). Their guides contain actual questions from past GMAT exams, which, of course, serve as excellentpractice material. You may also want to consider these 3 GMAT strategies you learned while in college. Have a great summer, and good luck!

Huntington Learning Center tutors are trained to address a variety of reading skills with their students based on readiness and developmental ability. Elementary reading skills range from basic letter and sound recognition to reading comprehension concepts such as drawing conclusions, following directions, and identifying main idea and details. Middle school reading skills includeincreasing a student's reading rate, making inferences, and integrating critical thinking skills. Struggling high school students often receive instruction in applying reading skills to other subject areas, making connections between genres and individual texts, and discovering the plot, theme, and conflict of a narrative piece of work. Regardless of a child's age orability, Huntington Learning Centers can help.
